My husband and I have put together a timeline for you, your managers, and anyone else interested, in order for them to understand that they need to send installers tomorrow, Dec 27 2021, to finish the job that was scheduled to be completed on Dec 23rd. We have security footage from the front door, and because we knew that we would have workers in our bedroom, we also have security footage from the master closet. Unfortunately, we did not anticipate so many problems and did not have the foresight to place a security camera in the laundry room.

I approved the design for the laundry room based on the initial spec mockup, as well as the final signed contract pictured here.

Tyler and Michael have discovered a flaw in the design. One of the closet doors will not open. (This discovery could have happened earlier, however in this footage, the two installers are deep in discussion.) According to a conversation that I had with Michael, the two installers “spent a long time working on angles.”
I was not informed that there was a problem of any kind.

Tyler notified me that the design shows a 30″ opening for the washer/dryer. This 30″ opening resulted in a situation where there was a board that blocked access to the water needed to run the washing machine. This change was a violation of the design contract that I had signed. I talk to the CBD designer, and she agrees that the solution is to make the necessary construction adjustments to create the original 29″ opening. She tells Tyler to create the Laundry Room with a 29″ opening for the washer/dryer.

We had painters paint the living room early in the morning and then finish with the kitchen and kids’ bathroom. They complete their work and leave by early afternoon. I would like to point out that they were not working in the laundry room nor in the master bedroom.

This is the last clip of the installers working on the master closet. At this point, Michael becomes primarily an observer. My guess is that this is due to the fact that my laundry room is small and it would be difficult for two people to be in there working at the same time.

Instead of building the Laundry Room with the 29″ opening that had been agreed on (AND was in the contract), the installers built the opening for the washer/dryer with a 30″ opening that rendered the water valves inaccessible.

We noticed that the current state of construction did not match the design. Michael informed us that they did not follow the design because it would not allow space for the door to open. We requested that the approved layout be followed, and to leave the door off. We discussed with Michael the possibilities of moving the door somewhere else or refunding the cost of the door.

We now do not have anywhere to hang our clothes, and we do not have a functional washer and dryer because the installation was not completed on time- despite being guaranteed that it would be by Closets by Design.
